Krix 4 way Cinema Speakers

Move over Grant and stop hogging the blog!

Today is an important day, especially for all us Adelaidians. Today is the opening day for the new Wallis Theatres at Mitcham, offering the movie loving public something quite unique. Krix Loudspeakers and Wallis Theatres share a relationship that dates back some 20 years, and as far as I can discern, Mitcham is the only site in the whole of Australia offering state of the art 4 way screen channel systems in every one of the 7 auditoriums.

So what does this mean to you and I? Ever had a situation where you wanted to catch that latest blockbuster release and see it in the biggest auditoriums, only to find that by the time you got to see it the movie was only showing in the smaller cinemas? Well at Mitcham now you can get the same consistent, high level of performance from cinema to cinema, so it doesn’t matter when you get to see it.

Having been involved with Krix now for some 16 years, I have been lucky enough to hear our systems all over the world. Our principal engineer David Murphy and I had the pleasure of equalising and auditioning these same 4 way systems at the opening of 2, ten screen complexes in Japan late last year. The response to our products there from a number of local cinema critics has been positively overwhelming. I welcome everyone’s thoughts on your more recent movie experiences and what you all think is the best sounding cinema, not only in Adelaide but wherever you live. I’m planning to visit Mitcham on the weekend to catch Pirates of the Caribbean and I hope that you all get the chance to catch a movie and enjoy the Krix Sound Experience over the coming weeks.

Here In Geelong our 8 Village Cinema Complex was installed with Krix speakers back in the 90s, and it was the first time I had ever heard of Krix. The sound was amazing - the mid range and top end was the best I had heard, but the trouble was that not all 8 cinemas got the same treatment. Only the main one, and the others got smaller and smaller (in size and quality). I wish in Geelong we could have the same treatment here but I guess I'll have to wait till I come over to Adelaide to here a cinema at its best. Scott Walker

Hey sneaky Pete, good to see you pulled some rank and muscled your way in to the realms of blogness... if thats a word... who knows in our current vocab world. Hailing from a Krix Cinema town (Cairns) and coming to a non Krix cinema town (Bunbury) I do have to comment that the sound really is quite different. I'm not sure who the speaker manufacturer is over here, but it doesn't have the same ambience or general impact. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3 in cinema number 1 over here, and it was a nice (but older) theatre, and what I assumed would be the gun cinema (aside from the picture being horrendously out of focus) the general experience wasn't great at all.

Looks like its time to submit some quotes to Grand Cinemas Bunbury... they might need it more than they think! Take care Pete. cheers Jon

Most cinemas here in Perth (Hoyts and Greater Union) employ Krix loud speakers. However, some particular theatre rooms with Krix loud speakers sound better than Krix loud speakers in other theatre rooms. I am not sure if this is just because of my different seating positions. However, they all sound good - just that some sound better than others! Well done Krix!
