At CEDIA Expo 2026, Krix and Playback Custom brought the Sound Room to life with an 11.8.6 Real Cinema at Home system designed to demonstrate the scale, control and impact possible from Australian-made cinema loudspeakers.
Across three days, dealers, integrators, industry partners,media and home cinema enthusiasts stepped inside.
And they had plenty to say about it.

At the heart of the Sound Room were 17 OWX-55 loudspeakers, creating a consistent loudspeaker platform across the listener and height layers.
Low frequencies were delivered by eight new UCX-11818-inch subwoofers, positioned four at the front and four at the rear.
The complete system bought toether:

> 8 × UCX-118 subwoofers
> Trinnov Altitude32 processing + WaveForming
> MC² i-68 + D100-DSP amplification
> Epson QL3000 projector
> 180-inch Seymour Screen Excellence woven screen

CEDIA 2026 marked the first public demonstration of the UCX-118.
And it made an immediate impression.
The UCX-118 was named a Best of Show Award Winner at CEDIA 2026 in the Residential Systems category.
Featuring an 18-inch high-excursion driver and extending deep into the infrasonic range, the UCX-118 is designed to deliver the low-frequency scale, control and physical impact demanded by serious cinema systems.

Outside the Sound Room was a reminder of where much of our cinema engineering began.
The KX-5996 four-way commercial cinema speaker provided a direct connection between more than five decades of cinema experience and the technology being demonstrated inside.
Since 1974, we have designed and manufactured loudspeakers in Adelaide, South Australia. Technologies developed for commercial cinemas continue to inform the loudspeakers we create for home cinema today.
