A purpose-built cinema experience

For movie enthusiast Matt, creating a dedicated home cinema wasn't simply about installing a projector and surround sound system, it was about delivering a truly immersive cinematic experience that could rival a commercial theatre.

The result is a purpose-built home cinema featuring a 7.1.4 speaker system, advanced acoustic treatment, smart automation and luxurious seating.

Designed for performance

The theatre measures 6.4 metres long, 4.0 metres wide and 3.0 metres high, with a custom baffle wall and projector niche incorporated into the room design.

To optimise sound isolation and acoustic performance, the room features double-lined 13mm Soundstop plasterboard, acoustic insulation throughout, and a double-stud rear wall construction. The walls and ceiling are finished in Dulux Domino, creating a dark, distraction-free environment that keeps the focus firmly on the screen.

Guests enter through a dedicated snack bar area complete with a popcorn machine, beer and wine fridge, AV equipment rack, LED lighting and movie posters - setting the scene before the feature presentation even begins.

At the heart of the cinema is a Krix 7.1.4 speaker configuration designed to deliver powerful dynamics, crystal-clear dialogue and immersive surround effects.

A 140-inch 2.35:1 Encore cinemascope screen is paired with an Epson LS12000B laser projector, delivering stunning image quality and true cinematic scale.

To complement the speaker system, extensive acoustic treatment was incorporated throughout the room.

Artnovian absorbers and diffusers, smoked oak acoustic wall panels, and carefully treated window areas help control reflections and enhance clarity, creating a balanced and natural listening environment.

Comfort was equally important, with King Living Cloud V seating providing a premium viewing experience for family and guests.

Intelligent lighting and automation

The cinema's atmosphere is enhanced through a fully integrated lighting and control system.

Tiltable LED downlights, illuminated riser steps and RGB lighting integrated with the acoustic panels create a sophisticated ambience before, during and after each movie session.

A Shelly Touch panel, mobile app integration and Google Home compatibility allow Matt to control lighting, equipment and custom scenes with a single touch.

Fingerprint access adds another layer of convenience while reinforcing the dedicated cinema experience.
